汉阳专用汽车研究所成立于1985年，系受国家汽车工业主管部门委托承担全国专用汽车行业技术归口管理工作的唯一科研机构。2006年1月并入中国汽车技术研究中心，系中国汽车技术研究中心直属的全资法人单位，是中国汽车工业协会专用车分会、中国汽车工程学会专用车分会、全国汽车标准化技术委员会专用汽车分技术委员会和全国专用汽车信息网的挂靠单位。研究所下设有 标准法规部、产业发展部、《专用汽车》杂志社、技术与信息部、机械工业专用汽车产品质量检测中心等业务部门。

Founded in 1985, Hanyang Special Purpose Vehicle Institute (HYSPVI) is the only scientific research institution entrusted by the national automobile industry supervision departments to undertake the nationwide technical centralization management for special purpose vehicle industry. It merged into China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) in January 2006 and became a wholly owned judicial entity under the direct control of CATARC. It is patron unit of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers Special Purpose Vehicles Committee, Special Purpose Vehicles Committee of SAE-China, National Automobile Standardization Technical Committee Special Purpose Vehicle Branch and National Special Purpose Vehicle Information Network. It includes the following departments below: Mechanical Industry Special Purpose Vehicle Product Quality Test Center, Special Purpose Vehicle Magazine Press, Standards and Regulations Department, Market Developing Department and etc.
It is mainly engaged in:
    ◆helping the state automobile industry supervision departments to draw up the development programs for special purpose vehicle industry;
    ◆formulating (or revising) the standards of and regulations special purpose vehicles and its centralization management;
    ◆providing the research of the industry related to technology and economy ;
    ◆providing information service and consultation;
    ◆editing and publishing the magazine, “Special Purpose Vehicle” ;
    ◆making new product appraising and inspecting test;
    ◆offering product design & research, craft and technology consultation;
    ◆demonstrating the feasibility study of engineering projects;
    ◆offering design and facture for industrial art, advertisement and exhibition.
